In oil and gas drilling, the solids control system includes many pumps. A slurry pump is one type among them. It is a heavy-duty constructed centrifugal pump, which is able to deal with tough and abrasive duties. The term slurry pump is considered a generic term, to separate from another type of centrifugal pump, this one is mainly used intended for clear liquids. That is used as a feeding pump for the decanter centrifuge.
Why submersible slurry pump is popular with many solids control users? Submersible slurry pumps can be used to transfer fluids with big particles. It is a single-stage and single-suction slurry pump. The pump shell and impeller no bearing, no shaft seal, which can pump medium with the quantity of solid particles at lower maintenance cost

Submersible slurry pumps have a very simple structure to ensure maximum performance, minimum energy consumption, long operating life, and minimum maintenance. Many different designs can suit various transportation requests in-process application of grinding circuits, hydrocyclone feed, and slurry transfer.
Vertical slurry pumps are widely used in many solids control systems. This kind of pump can be divided into two kinds, the tank pump, and cantilever/sump pumps. The tank pump is considered a dry installed pump and the sump is incorporated in the pump. It opens inlet to prevent air blocking and operate smoothly. The cantilever structure is single-stage and suction with housing bearing, supporting the intermediate pipe connect it to pump’s hydraulic components. The water is exited out from the drainage. The impeller is semi-shrouded with the agitation vane on the extension. The main point of this pump is underwater shaft part contains enough rigidity, the impeller and pump should not have a bearing and seal so it can deliver a greater medium of the solids cutting.
The submersible slurry pumps can be installed in mud tank or mud pit to transfer drilling fluid to shale shaker or centrifuge, so it can be in HDD job site. Very easy and convenient to operate. To provide users more convenience we can also provide a control panel, cable connection between the slurry pump motor and panel
AIPU slurry pump is with fewer accessories, a compact structure, a small volume, easy maintenance, rotor, and stator are wear parts of this pump, it is convenient to replace. the stator is made of elastomeric material, so it has particular advantages over other pumps to transfer the fluids with high viscosity and hard suspended particles included.
For the pump feeding centrifuge, we need to consider the centrifuge flow rate. For the pump feeding shaker in the HDD mud system, we should consider the whole mud system flow rate. And then the submersible length is another issue that affects configuration or design. We can supply a pump to meet submersible depth up to 3m. How to achieve this? By extension pipe connected to the input port.
If your application is suitable for a variety of pump types, a decision should rest on the ongoing lifetime costs associated. Considerations should be made for the following:
Energy consumption
Maintenance and repairs
Downtime
Operating expenses
Environmental impact
The most important considerations should be energy consumption and maintenance & repairs. Is the pump energy efficient? Most importantly, do you have access to the manufacturer for spares/repairs/requests?
Drilling fluids are transferred to desilter cones by a centrifugal pump from the desander tank or compartment. Desilter cone is fed by a desilter pump with fluids out of the desander. Under pump pressure, the fluids run into cones and flow with centrifugal force. Then the heavy particles will deposit down and push out of cone drop in Apex. Particles larger than 15 microns will be separated out of drilling mud.
