Description of Jet mud mixing pump

Also referred to as jet injection pump mud slurry mixing or mixing hopper mixer pump. It is a combination of hoppers and pumps. Hopper type may be a scroll type or venturi. A mixing pump is widely used in the oil and gas drilling process. It is a new drilling fluid for mixing, and mixing the active sludge, when necessary. In some civil applications, mud mixing pumps also widely used bentonite mixing. Compared with the slurry agitator, the mixing fluid may be mixed throughout the slurry pump system is connected via a line, and transfer to the mixing slurry tank or any compartments.

In some mud systems, the mud mixer is fit as integration on the mud tank skid. Some of them will be fit as separated pumps and hoppers. Some hoppers are set on a tank top and connected with the pump by the pipe. While the other mixing pumps are an assembly of pump and hopper on a separated base set beside the mud tank. Different configurations meet the different requirement or demand of users. But the final result and effect are the same. They need to produce new proper drilling fluids or drilling mud. 

How to select the mud hopper pump

Mud hopper pump capacity is defined by mud hopper size and pump. For example, the hopper including 4'' or 6'' port one. And the diameter is 400mm-700mm. For pump, the normal type for mixing hopper including APSB8X6, APSB6X5, and APSB5x4 driven by 75HP, 50HP, 30HP motor. The flow rate is about 400-1200GPM. To select proper mixing pump, please consider the flow rate of the whole mud system. Almost of clients prefer Venturi hopper to the swirl hopper because of its high capacity and dust-free design. Furthermore, the Venturi hopper is more compact than the swirl hopper 

Different configurations on mud mixing pumps. In almost the mud system, the mixing hopper pump is set at end of the mud tank. They are an assembly of hopper, pump, skid. In some systems, there are 2 complete sets of mixing pumps. That means 2 hoppers and 2 centrifugal pumps. For some clients, they prefer the separated mixing skid in a frame. The hopper can be in a separated frame or just a single hopper connected with all lines input and discharge. The pipings connected with mixing pump including the input line, discharge line, some are fit with T port for convenient mud transfer among tanks and compartments

In a complete mud system, how many sets of mixing pumps do we need? It's depending on the mudflow rate of the whole system. And the mixing pump can be assembled together with shearing pump we call it jet shearing pump. Furthermore, different users prefer different configurations on the mud system. The mixing pump skid can be fit only one mixing hopper pump, or 2 sets of mixing hopper pump. And usually the 2 sets of mixing pump work simultaneously for sufficient fluids productivity

Besides the oil well drilling, the mud mixing pump is widely used in the HDD mud recycling system. The difference is usually the HDD mud mixing pump smaller than the oil drilling one.
