A jet portable mud mixer is a piece of special equipment to prepare and increase the weight of the drilling fluid by adding and mixing bentonite, changing the fluid density, changing the mud density, viscosity, and dehydration. The unit includes one centrifugal pump, one jet mixing hopper, and one jet mixer that are installed in a base with pipe valves.

Drilling fluid, which consists of various components such as bentonite, polymer additives, and weighting agents in water, oil or synthetic base, have high viscosity and need sufficient pumping to ensure that the mud is completely mixed. Effective mixing and agitating maintain good mud characteristics by reducing settlement.
A properly mixed drilling fluid will help keep the borehole open and allow for smooth drilling operations. Non-homogenous muds can cause problems within the borehole such as stuck bottom hole assembly (BHA), an unstable borehole and stuck pipe.
How to select and what impact mud mixing hopper unit impact
First, we should confirm the treating capacity we need. And for oil and gas drilling kindly suggest a 150m³/h flow rate. Then confirm pump, necessary pipelines and also can depend on supplier suggestion
Mixing hopper hydraulic consumption should be as little as possible, otherwise, the flow rate may decrease by too much
Distance between Venturi hopper and nozzle should be proper. The optimal distance should be 32~90mm
Output pressure should be designed properly. If the discharge port pressure is too high the flow rate of mixing pump will be lower than expected
The higher pressure at the inlet port the higher the flow rate of the mixing hopper
The higher hopper mounted the lower mixing capacity
