A hydrocyclone is a high-throughput gravity separation device used for separating slurry particles based on particle weight. For example, particles of similar size but different specific gravity, or particles of different size but identical specific gravity.

A Hydrocyclone uses a tangential injection flow process, enhancing the centrifugal forces and moving solid particles outwards. The dispersed particles move downward in a spiral path into an underflow chamber (sedimentation tank) while clean liquid moves upwards to the center of the spiral, towards the top outlet.
Hydrocyclone Oil Separators apply extreme centrifugal force to separate oil particles from wastewater. A Hydrocyclone's primary construction comprises of a conical shaped chamber. This chamber has two exit outlets located at each end with one wastewater inflow inlet on the side.
