Summary of decanter centrifuge

High quality Decanter centrifuge is 4th phase solids control equipment in drilling fluids system. Aipu produce high quality decanter centrifuge available at middle speed and high speed centrifuge. The high speed ones can be controlled by VFD panel.


Flow rate is in inverse ratio of the rotation speed. That means, if you need higher speed centrifuge you'll get smaller volum fluid processed. If you prefer larger capacity, the rotation speed and separation point will slower and larger


In well drilling fluids system, the centrifuge decanter is mainly used to get rid of 2~7 microns cuttings. Middle speed centrifuge will separate 5~7 microns out of fluids, while high speed or VFD speed one will remove 2~5 microns.

Decanter Centrifuge Main Component


Rotating parts including centrifuge bowl and screw for stainless steel material. Screw impeller is coated with tungsten carbide for protection of impeller wear. The most popular size bowl is 355mm diameter and 1250mm length for maximum rotating speed 3500RPM.


Main motor and assistant motor installed to drive centrifuge bowl and screw for flame proof standard.


Electrical control panel is same explosion proof standard compares with centrifuge motor. VFD control panel can be supplied for various speed control depending on mud conditions.


Centrifuge skid with legs to install bowl, motor and control panel.


Other than decanter centrifuge, AIPU is able to supply a complete solids control equipment and tank equipment like centrifugal pump, mud agitator, mud gun and degasser. The whole tank design and pipeline arrangement is customized as per request.

Working principle of drilling mud decanter centrifuge

 

The working principle of horizontal screw centrifuge is very simple. It has been known by the public for a century. The drum and screw are supported by separate suspension.The material enters through the inlet pipe and accelerates into the core drum body through the drum.

 

How to select decanter centrifuge for fluids system?


Mudflow: The flow rate is related to bowl size and rotation speed.
Industry: Use it in oil drilling, water drilling or HDD?
Depth: Drilling depth is another issue considered during selection. Usually, depth over 3500m, the high-speed one should be utilized.
Drilling fluid property: Viscosity, mud base, and so on. Kindly confirm the applicability from mud engineer or centrifuge supplier.
