Long Live The CAST IRON Mud Tank Valve Controlling Drilling Mud

AIPU Mud Tank Valves are designed primarily for use in settling tanks of water and wastewater treatment plants. They are for low-pressure applications only; consult AIPU solids control for special requirements. Their intended use is to drain tanks for maintenance or cleaning.

Mud tank is vital equipment in the solids control system, the application of mud tanks has improved the efficiency of oil extraction. While the suction and dump valve acts as a control valve in the use of mud tanks.

AIPU company supply suction valve and dump valve, both are available in 6″, 8″, 10″ and 12″ with the screw-type operator. Popular ones are 8″ and 10″. The valve is composed of the outer tube, connecting rod, connecting tube, and screw. All valves are manufactured to suit clients’ tank depth, suction height, type operator, type flow pattern, and suction line requirements. The customer-built surface color is acceptable.

Mud valves are furnished with a 2″ square operating nut; however, they can be supplied with optional extension stem or handwheel.

This valve series uses bronze seats in the body and gate (also available with resilient seat). The cast iron body assembly features manganese bronze stems and guides for use in submerged installations. The fasteners are furnished in stainless steel to prevent corrosion from years of submerged service.

Valve position indicators are recommended with mud valves, to provide a visual indication of the valve’s position. See position indicator installed in-floor box or position indicator installed on a wall bracket.

Nuts, bolts, and gaskets for mounting to floor pipe are NOT furnished but can be ordered separately.

How to maintain the suction valve in our routine work to make sure its performance

a.) Make sure the correct installation and removal of the suction valve.

b.) To inspect the O-rings and gaskets at various locations. Replace them if they are damaged.

c.) To check if the bearing is flexible or damaged.

d.) Apply a proper amount of butter to the screw after checking the installation and fill the oil cup with full butter to ensure that the hand wheel rotates flexibly.

The tank valve height calculation

Firstly, confirm the valve body pipe size. Some valves made of the same tubes on both body and connection port, while some are different.

Then, confirm the tank height. The internal height.

Thirdly, confirm the internal pipe level.

Finally, if any special requirements on handling on the tank top.

Based on the above information, supplier or manufacturers can provide a general drawing. Against confirmation, the mud tank valve can be finished easily.
