APG Screw pumps Screw pump is also called a Progressive Cavity Pump. A screw pump is a type of rotary pump which is equipped with a rotor and stator. The rotor and stator are combined together and rotate within a cylindrical cavity or liner. The fluid or transfer medium enters from the suction side of the screw pump and moves linearly along these intermeshing screws/rotors to the discharge side of the pump.

Screw pumps mainly consisted of the discharge port, the stator, the rotor, the flexible section, the middle axis, suction room, seal, bearing, driveshaft, bearing body. Among these parts, the wearing parts are the rotor and stator. The screw pump wet parts can be made of stainless, steel, and high-quality rubber. According to different fluids' content and property, we'll provide a certain configuration on screw pumps. For example, the abrasive material we kindly suggest use the special rubber instead of stainless steel. As we know, the S.S can't adapt abrasive material but corrosive material. Compared to other pumps, the screw pump is not easy to lead swirl. This helps much to maintain pump capacity. It is not sensitive to viscosity so it is capable to transfer material with high viscosity.

Screw pump is a popular feeding pump type for centrifuge, no matter for decanter centrifuge, 3-phase centrifuge, or disc centrifuge. Besides the screw pump, a submersible slurry pump and sand pump are also been used as a centrifuge feeding pump. But as submersible slurry pump and sand pump are both a kind of centrifugal force pump, they are not as good as screw pump to feed for decanter centrifuge.

Decanter centrifuge is a high-speed rotating device. There will be many self-protection functions for safety and also to protect the device. A major self-protection application is overload protection. It means in case the centrifuge feeding is overload, the centrifuge will be stopped to avoid damaging bearings or damaging rotating components. In this case, the feeding screw pump must be capable to adjust the feeding flow. There are mainly 2 ways to control the feeding screw pump input flow rate:

1. If a fixed speed screw pump is used to feed for decanter centrifuge, a VFD control panel is requested to adjust the feeding flow rate to avoid overload and to reach a better separation performance.
2. If a manually adjustable speed screw pump is used as a decanter centrifuge feeding screw pump. A fixed speed control panel can be used for the pump to start and stop.

Screw pump transfer drilling fluid via the screw conveyor rotation. Center screw pole is the positive pole, the two sides screw conveyor are negative pole. Negative poles rotate in opposite direction with the positive pole.

Actually, when the screw axis is rotating, the lower Vroom will become large. Vroom will close against fluid sucked. The closed room will be pushed forward along the axle. Then the new suction cavity generates on suction end. One and one closed cavity move forward, the fluid will be pressed out.
