Mud Cleaner Drilling Mud Decanter Centrifuge

APLW series decanter centrifugeused to process drilling mud discharged from desilter cones or mud cleaner

Decanter centrifuge are used to process unweighted and weighted, water-based and oil-based drilling fluids (muds). Mechanical energy is utilized to increase the gravitational force exerted on solids that are present in the mud system. Additionally, -forces separate fine solids from liquid.

Decanter centrifuge is also referred as centrifuge decanter, decanting centrifuge. In oil and gas drilling, we call then solids control centrifuge or drilling fluids centrifuges. Drilling mud is pumped into centrifuge by screw pump or submersible slurry pump. The treating capacity is from 40-65m³/h. Higher speed centrifuge process less drilling fluids or produce less particles. However, higher speed centrifuge separate finer solids out of drilling mud. Centrifuge mud source is in desilter tank/compartment. 

APLW Series decanter centrifuge including middle speed and high speed ones. The horizontal decanting centrifuge is 4th phase solids control equipment in whole drilling mud system. Drilling fluids after processed by APLW centrifuge, the cuttings or solids between 2-7 microns will be separated out.

Why we call centrifuge the 4th solids control equipment or 5th cleaning equipment? Because it's behind desilter cone or mud cleaner. The middle speed centrifuge is usually fixed frequency and get rid of 5-7microns cuttings. While the high speed one is usually VFD and separate 2-5 microns cuttings out of liquid. 

The material of decanter centrifuge is stainless steel. The minimum grade is S.S304, and then S.S316, S.S316L, Duplex 2205. The screw impeller can be welded or coated with tungsten carbide for better anti-corrosive performance. This will help us to get longer service life and save time to maintain or repair

Besides cuttings separation in drilling mud, the centrifuge is also used to recycle some barite. And decanter centrifuge is widely used in waste management, oil sludge treatment more and more.

The decenter centrifuge bowl size is ranged from 450x1000mm to 530x1320mm. Different size drum will produce different flow rate. Of course the speed is not same on all centrifuge.
